Today we welcomed our first of 8 artists to the NSCAD Lithography Workshop: Contemporary Editions project. Kenyan-born Canadian artist Brendan Fernandes joined us on his way back from LA to Chicago where he teaches at Northwestern University.
Brendan spent the morning working out some of his ideas and gathering information by looking through prints from the NSCAD Litho Workshop of ’69-’76. Master Printer Jill Graham explained the processes on each of the works we pulled in the NSCAD Permanent Art Collection.
Brendan found inspiration in the Litho archive and pulled works by Sol Lewitt, Ken Lochhead, Garry Neil Kennedy’s “4th Grade Class” and the late Vito Acconci’s “Bite Marks”.
More to come as the week progresses…
